Paperwork - Mailbox Makeover
For February we are going to focus on something I hear from many clients is a struggle for them: paper. Some of you are rolling your eyes, or grumbling, or have already stopped reading because of the frustration you feel as paper comes into your home. Stay with me! It’ll be worth it. We will begin to bring order, minimize, and ease the dilemma that paper is to so many. The best place to start is minimizing what comes into our lives!
We all cringe when getting the mail for two reasons: the junk and the bills. I have thoughts on helping with bills, but that’s for another blog. As for the junk mail, there are ways to take control over it, get less coming to your home, and therefore having less to sort through and deal with on a daily basis. Here are a few ways:
1. Visit DMAchoice.org to unsubscribe from mailing lists. This site has you set up an account where you can manage what catalogs, magazines, “other mail offers,” and credit card offers. You go through each of those sections to remove your name while the site guides you on what companies and mailers that will include.
*This has the most inclusive way to get rid of mailings!
2. Contact the companies that you have previously ordered or done business with and have them remove you from their list of mailings and catalogs.
3. If you contribute once a year to a charitable organization, ask them to send you only one donation request per year.
